The International Physiotherapy History Association (IPHA) is a community of physiotherapists (physical therapists) and other people interested in promoting the study of physiotherapy history at international, national and local levels; our vision is “to bring the history of physiotherapy alive”.
IPHA encourages and promotes research, study, scholarship and publication and historical perspectives as a resource in present-day practice, teaching and education, regulation, management and leadership and professionalisation.
IPHA also encourages and supports members in “doing”, using and enjoying history.
We also aim to foster understanding and appreciation of physiotherapy history in the wider context of healthcare and health-related topics.
We will challenge the physiotherapy profession to use and have understanding and knowledge of our history in planning and developing the future of the profession. IPHA provides support for archiving, collation and dissemination of historical materials internationally and nationally.
