Thanks to the efforts of the Dutch History of Physiotherapy Foundation (Stichting Gescheidenis Fysiotherapie – SGF) all Royal Dutch Society for Physiotherapy (Koninklijk Nederlands Genootschap voor Fysiotherapie) journals are now digitally accessible. Articles beginning from 1891 until the present can be read and downloaded via a new website.

The treasure trove of articles provides a valuable resource for research and further development of the field, according to the SGF. The digitisation was realised in collaboration with Mart van Lieburg, emeritus professor of Medical History.

Presentation of the Henk Bijlsma Prize

Henk Biljsma PrizeThe announcement took place on the SGF’s annual conference day on 27 September 2024. The Henk Bijlsma Prize was also established during this conference and the inaugural prize was awarded to Huub Vossen, publicist of the SGF, for his contributions to publications on the history of physiotherapy.

Henk Bijlsma was a leading physiotherapist and former chairman of the SGF). He contributed to the professionalisation of physiotherapy for many years and has shared his knowledge within thee field. Bijlsma was appointed member of merit of the SGF in 2016 because of his long-term and dedicated commitment to the history of physiotherapy in the Netherlands. In 2020, Bijlsma was awarded the Knight in Order of Orange Nassau in Utrecht by Mayor Van Zanen for his contribution, among other things, to the history of physiotherapy in the Netherlands.
